An Easter Bunny Tale. . . or Tail . . . or Trail ???? who knew?

There may not be many of you kids out there who remember Gene Autry - a matinee cowboy of Nana's childhood days.  He and Roy Rogers graced the silver screen in about the same era and each helped to form our childhood belief in the triumph of good over evil.

We grew up going to Saturday afternoon movies at the local theater.  There, while munching popcorn and jujubees, we learned - the good guys ALWAYS win.  And they always wear white hats.

Gene recorded this classic Easter song during the late 40's or early 50's and it continues to stand the test of time.  I found my old favorite in numerousl places across cyberspace, but I've put my own spin on it for you -  by adding clinks to match.  As a point of further interest, Gene wrote the classic Christmas favorite "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer", too.

There are, at a rough estimate, two zillion places online where you can hear "Peter Cottontail" this Easter. But I'll just bet this is the only one fluffed out with great stuff to enterain the kids while mom gets dinner on the table. There are pages to color, a paper sculpture bunny to build, some original art, and so forth. Click around a bit here... it's hard to tell what might turn up - and Have Fun !

Here comes Peter Cottontail Hoppin' down the bunny trail,

Hippity hoppin', Easter's on its way.
Bringin' ev'ry girl and boy
A basketful of Easter joy

Things to make your Easter bright and gay
He's got jelly beans for Tommy

Colored eggs for sister Sue

There's an orchid for your mommy

And an Easter bonnet too.

Oh! Here' comes Peter Cottontail
Hoppin' down the bunny trail

Hippity hoppity Happy Easter Day
Look at him hop and listen to him say,

"Try to do the things you should
"Maybe if you're extra good
He'll roll lots of Easter eggs your way

You'll wake up on Easter morning
And you'll know that he was there
When you find those choc'late bunnies
That he's hiding ev'rywhere,

Oh! Here' comes Peter Cottontail
Hoppin' down the bunny trail

Hippity hoppity
Happy Easter Day.
