Oh yes… Nana
knows there are lots of places out there with a simple form
to send sites to your friends. Sometimes, all you gotta do is "click
here". You don't need to go to any trouble or read any instructions
(or follow them either, for that matter). But Nana also knows
those sites are in the business of collecting names and addresses
for a mailing
list—if not their own, then the company who provides them with the
script for that cute and convenient little form.
What happens
when you place your e-mail address and those of your friends in
that very convenient
little form? You give the information to whoever is in the business
of building a mailing list. They can then send you unsolicited
advertising (SPAM! Don't you just hate it?); sell them to the highest
bidder; or whatever mailing list builders do. Think about
it! Maybe
you will want to read Nana's instructions and send pages the old fashioned
way from now on after all?
